"Taken as allegory or as sheer entertainment, Getting Out of New New Towne showcases Baker's talent as a bard." –Montreal Review of Books
Getting Out of New New Towne
A few hundred years ago Vale the Traveller was a merchant and guide for caravans between townes on the planet Triple-G, but the third Gib-Nowan War stifled all that. Now Vale is stranded in New New Towne. The gates are closed and no one is allowed in or out. But the towne walls are old and there are ways of getting in and out, if you know the right people.
Getting Out of New New Towne is a playfully illustrated tale about a mesmerizing and delightfully unique sci-fi world called the Expanse; a world filled with bandits, bizarre creatures, and drinking buddies; a world that could only have been created by Tony Baker.

Review from the Montreal Review of Books
"This small book by Toronto artist Tony Baker combines electric illustrations with simple text to relate the story of Vale the Traveller’s escape from an other-worldly city in militaristic lock-down.
‘Four-year-old boy abstract sci-fi expressionism’ is how Baker, rather aptly, describes his visual style. The ever-goggled and -hooded Vale is a determined figure walking through an urban maze populated by fantastic beings, like the anthropomorphized beasts with fangs and militaristic garb who sit in cafes and gossip, or the multi-eyed purple fiends who burst into New New Towne when Vale opens its gates. Baker includes a backgrounder about the book’s setting, the universe of Expanse, which is torn by an ongoing war between the Gibs and the Nowans.
Taken as allegory or as sheer entertainment, Getting Out of New New Towne showcases Baker's talent as a bard."
