Ancient Yogic Poetry for Hockey Fans
Bhagavad Goalie transforms the ancient and revered Hindu scripture, Bhavagad Gita, from an epic clash of warriors to a hockey match in small-town Alberta.
Prince Arjuna is now Arthur Parcel, a goaltender who’s having second thoughts about the rough ‘n tough world on the rink. Join Arthur as he is coached by Krishna about true Yoga, right action, and the extraordinary knowledge that reveals the divine beauty bursting from everything.
Ian Christopher Goodman
Ian Christopher Goodman's most recent book of poetry is Generator, published by Snare Books. He’s acted in Edmonton Fringe festivals, made a short film called OHM, and played music with Telefauna and goOdMaNGoODmAn. Current projects include a sustainable urban-gardening organization called Les Jardiniers à bicyclette and an unusual book on health tentatively titled Momentous Healing.

“How can I, with my great hockey stick called Gretzky,
    battle T.J. Booker and Cheechoo,
since they’re such stand-up guys, Krishna?”
“I would rather live on spare change in this world
than butt-end someone’s grandpa on the ice.
Having beaten them,
all my other pleasures will be spoiled.”
Arthur was really bummed out,
So Krishna skated between the two teams,
did a couple triple-axels,
    and playfully said these words:
“You’re being a crybaby.”
